For gaming? Not very good. That Asus you were looking at, eventhough with last gen i7, is very good.

The Sager NP5165 is the best you're gonna get for your budget and for what you want. It has good build quality, 4 hours of battery life, USB 3.0, and a decent weight of just 5.7 pounds.

Here's the specs:
15.6" 1920x1080 Display
Intel Core i7 2630QM Quad-Core
GeForce GT 555M with Optimus (40% faster than GT 540M)
4GB DDR3 1333MHz
500GB 7200RPM HDD
6x Blu-Ray Reader/DVD+RW Drive
6-cell 62whr battery
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Total: $1105

You can get it here.

It will be able to play all those games you listed in either max or high (as long as you set resolution on games at 1600x900) and the CPU will eat anything you can throw at it, including video editing.

Lenovo Ideapad Y560 i7

Heres an i5 version
Ive got an i7 Y560 myself and I love with it. Its a pretty good gamer too.

Heres a review for the Y560 i7

OR

HP Envy 17
Id also suggest looking at the envy 14's and 15's. I personally love the 14 but choose according to you liking. My friend has a envy 14 and its a great laptop, Id recommend it over my Y560

Heres a review for the Envy 14

OR

Toshiba Qosmio X505
Havent used this one, just read a review a few days ago, looks great.

Heres a Review for the Qosmio

I don't have that one but did a lot of research recently. But the other poster right, the 540 gets stomped by the 460 so last gen cpu probably wouldn't matter. But does last gen i7 have Optimus? Might be limiting on the battery.
Ok, now that Sager looks like a good combo.
