6950 FPS problems on Rift

Thread Starter
I have two 6950's in crossfire and I'm only getting about 20-30 fps in eyefinity.....its playable i guess but it does bog the gameplay down quite a bit. When I'm playing crysis 2 or black ops, I'm getting about 50-60 and thats pretty great. Anyone have the same problem?

What is your cpu clock?
Are you sure it's your video card issues?
It might just be server lag, or are you positive it's video card lag.

Just so you know, Rift has a very poor CrossfireX/SLI support.

You may want to use Radeon Pro to make your own profile, and force the MVPU Mode to Alternate Frame Rendering, that way I made my crossfire work almost 100% correctly and I was at +100fps all the time all maxed out. smile.gif

Hope I could help you out.

Kevin.

It's the engine... you will not max the game out at high resolution. 2560x1600 on my game was 12-20FPS, 1920x1200 was 60+ FPS. Granted I played on the first release build of the game so they may have improved it a bit.

Anything after 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 will pretty much be unplayable with the sliders maxed out on any system. The engine cannot handle it. Set the game to "Ultra" and you will be fine (there is a reason why the highest preset is only 70% on most sliders), if you customize the sliders to max you will have issues.

Hate to say it but the game is terribly coded, and I don't think they will ever fix it.

You have 3 options:
1) Deal with the "Ultra" preset and maybe adjust it slightly higher.
2) Play at a lower resolution.
3) Deal with your FPS issues and hope they improve this.

I just realized he had 3 monitors. doh.gif

Well, using my Radeon Pro method I described above, he should well be at +60fps maxed out (I'd disable any kind of AA and AF, and lower a bit of Shadows too, the AA has a huge performance loss in this game).

But overall you're right, it is a terrible coded game, and they most likely never fix it.

Not to burst your bubble, but in my opinion you can't claim you are maxing a game when you are running lower shadows, and no AA/AF. AA/AF are some of the most important things to have. I would consider anything under 4x MSAA and 16x AF as not maxed. tongue.gif

You are correct though, disabling AA/AF in this game will triple your FPS, however with his three monitors I think he may be pretty screwed either way since the game just doesn't like high resolution.

True, it's not really maxing it out, but hey, having AA in Rift is like doing a suicide OC run... >.<<br />
For Rift, I'd consider it maxed out with everything maxed except AA.

But yeah, the game it's self is really bad in my opinion.

Well, I'm playing at "ultra" settings and I'm getting about 25~35 fps which is better but its also because I just unlocked both my 6950's to 6970's. The games graphics support does suck. Whatever though, I'll live. Thanx for the help;)
