Not worth the extra $70 performance wise and thats the bottom line, but... if the $70 isnt an issue get the 6950 cuz it does have more RAM and you have a dual Bios switch so there really is no risk in flashing the card. If you fail, flip that switch and you are good to go.

Ah yes. Should improve slightly with each new driver release. 5870 is pretty much maxed out.

Of course 6950 2GB. It's getting better and better in performance thru new drivers. Also the 6950 has better warranty too in this case.

Plus Longer warranty, If it fails you will get a 6xxx series where as a 5xxx series replacement might get a 4xxx series replacement, also better dx11 performance

You can't go wrong either way, both are fantastic choices..

Though I'll lean towards the 6950 2GB as it has more memory and can unlock shaders to 6970 specification... Also the Warranty, Just incase

6950. They scale much better in crossfire and seem to play the newest games better, while the 5870 may win in some of the older games. Wait until the cards drop in price, toss a 2nd in there, and you'll be happy you went 6950.
Why are everyone suggesting flashing the card? You can just unlock the shaders (which is risk free) and OC it up to beyond 6970 speeds.
6950 is a much better card, I'd never go with a 5xxx card over it.

Its not a 5970, its a 5870.

Go with the 6950 because you will get a lifetime warranty with that. I don't think you should try unlocking the 6950 to a 6970 unless you are completely sure it will work because you don't want to end up with a dead card.

Edit: Didn't see how old the thread was. Which card did you end up getting?
