I agree with most you, but it really depends on what the needs of said computer will be. The single threaded performance of Sandy Bridge cannot be beat at this juncture (hopefully in a month that will be a different story), however if one were planning to, say, run six simultaneous threads at the same then the Phenom II X6 is the obvious choice. I highly doubt this is the case, but if one were doing a lot--and I mean a lot--at the same time, then the mega-tasking that an X6 can bring you at the price is great. If this is just a gaming machine, then don't bother with the X6.

hey guys, alot of great input.everything has been ordered. and alot of the reason i ordered what i did was to have the horse power if i needed it....

i got 16gigs of ram because it was only like $30 more than 8 gigs.

i will eventually overclock as soon as i go water cooled.

the computer i use now is a bone stock dell inspiron 530, and its lasted 3-4 years, and with this new build and basically overkilling everything i want to do, I went for longevity and looks.....

i spent no more than $200 on any single part which is a plus, most of you are right the MSI wasn't my first choice for MOBO's but it had the features i wanted and the price was right...so i went with it.

and i've wanted to go amd for a while, i've never owned anything amd....so i just wanted to try them

nobody mentioned the power supply, do u think that would be sufficient power....and maybe enough to add some lighting/WC?

Why do people always ask for opinions after everything has been purchased? You have to do research BEFORE you buy, not after.

I think you could've done a lot better for $1000. Sandy Bridge is easy to fit into a $850 build. Even a stock i5 2400 beats the snot out of a 4ghz Phenom II.

I would not get the 5770. I have had way to many issues with the games I play the most (MOH 2010 and BFBC2) when crossfired. Besides with 1000 bucks to spend Intel is really the best way to go. (and I am an AMD fan boy). You definitely don't need 16GB ram. Thats ridiculous, I am running 8GB and I thought that was overkill.

All I am saying is if you must go with AMD do not get the 5770 (the 5770 definetly will not get you to where you want on your timeline), go with at least a 6950. It is well worth the money and you do not need anywhere close to that much ram.

inertia....i don't do much gaming......and i've read the same thing your saying, other people having problems when the crossfired it.........and i just noticed u have alot of the samethings i have....

and 16 gigs of ram is uh.....yea, for a good price....why not?

It's just that you could've gotten much better for your money.

It's like paying $15k for a Toyota Corolla when some other place is offering the Honda Accord for $15k. Why would you ever get the Corolla instead of the Accord?

Go for SB for builds that are over 900$... except you want to wait for bulldozer, and if ur going for gaming, an HD 5770 will be quite weak. As for video rendering, I doubt you really need 16 GB, it's overkill for an AMD build. MSI is fine, but they had a few problemes before, otherwise go with ASUS.
