i7 2600k @ 5GHz stable... not bad for a newb...

Thread Starter
Hi all.. not really a newb... I've been using PC's since late 70's. The Radio Shack TRS80... besides the TRS80 I've had an Apple II, Commadore 64, Macintosh, Amiga 1000, and then it's been x86 ever since... I live in Silicon Valley so I've been to many of the major "nerd-fests" over the years and I see "Woz" every now and then in Los Gatos...

I've had a P4 3.0GHz OC'd to 4.0GHz for many years now and recently bought and built "My67GTO" (see below) and have it stable at 5.0GHz 1.45v 62c max on Prime95 24/7. Getting 950/2100 out of my ASUS GTX 570 DCUII... The ASUS P8P67 Deluxe is still on a trial basis... fixed most of the minor ASUS annoyances people have noted with this board like double boots during post and "no wakey" out of sleep mode, etc.. I like the UFI but I may dump the whole thing for the GB GA-P67-UD7 before my return period is over on the P8P67... I chose the ASUS because I need the 4x6GB + 4x3GB SATA's and the dual NIC's since I do a lot of DAW music recording along with gaming. I have a backbone network switch and subnet just for the PC to PC DAW data transfers and the other NIC is Internet facing on another switch and subnet... every bit (or byte in this case ) matters with digital recording...

Anyway, glad to be a member and thanks to all who have unknowingly helped me over the last few weeks as I read your posts and made my buying choices, system build plans, and OC tweaks based on them...
