@Bella - Yes I agree here.
@Plex - Will have to try your server for some fun!
@Farih - Holy crap! Yeah never seen it quite that busy on Teranas.
I've been fooling around a lot with this game too on stock VS OC and I think the thing that's eluding most in this thread is just the efficiency of each core or architecture. Faster hardware helps and does improve things but to what extent certainly varies.
Every couple hundred mhz bump I've done has likewise bumped up the FPS minimum by 5-10, and say, a 25mhz or so boost on the GPU likewise bumps FPS by 2-5 FPS. I've noticed more improvement personally from higher and higher CPU OC's than any GPU OC, but every little bit combined helps.
To the SSD commentors; no, it doesn't boost FPS per se but it does smooth out loading spikes and does load a crowded AH area quite fast. It's nice but I think it's already been said that HDD VS SSD isn't what is limiting the OP here.
To compare further, I'm on ultra except for resolution and MSAA. Generally running 1600x1200 fullscreen ultra with only MSAA on 4x. Will hit 55 or 60 FPS minimum at SW Trade AH during peak times for my server and 120-400 FPS everywhere else, but again, I'm on Xeons. Totally different architecture style.
Oh and DX11 over any body of water is nice even IF the rest of the engine is old

I leave that unchecked always but on my bro's ancient Dell Inspiron E1505 (all settings low @ 1024x768 lawl), it did boost my FPS there from single digits to the 20s outdoors. Ironically now the more interesting thing was that since this laptop is very prone to overheating constantly, I went in and shut off Intel Speedstep to downclock the core from 1.8Ghz to 1.0Ghz. FPS? Skyrocketed to the 40s-60s outdoors (though still teens or less in town). Interesting is all I have to say. But again, this is because of thermals, not efficiency. Laptop at 1.8 would play as well as my reduced settings - until the throttling kicked in and FPS went to 2 everywhere.Edited by The-Real-Link - 5/11/11 at 11:53am
