Money, really, but then I remembered the $15k price tag just now and realized how irrelevant my concern was

But yea, Dell U3011s are great. If you want glossy though, check out the Apple 30" displays.

I usually don't like Apple's computer stuff, but man their displays are gorgeous! They're on the same quality as Dell's Ultrasharps, only Dell uses an AG coating (also recommended you leave it on, as people who remove it often report damage to their vertical polarizers afterwards) and Apple uses glossy.

Ok so just wanted to update.

I've been doing my research on water cooling so I can much better understand it. By the time I order everything, I want to be a pro before the parts even arrive I've been going through the big list of Water Cooling Essential Threads. Aside from starting to read down that list, I wanted to know if anyone has any advice or specific things they would like me to look at? I am really more curious on what type of radiator setup I will need for such a massive setup. 4x GTX 580s, dual 6-core cpus, etc.

As for the case, I will probably go with CaseLabs TH10 case because I'm not sure if there is even a bigger case in the world?

I would also like you to see this:

If this is the outcome for power consumption for a very similar setup, yet I will have much more memory and 4 larger graphics cards. Am I going to be indefinitely looking at a dual PSU setup? How does this work in terms of "pressing the power button" to start both PSU's?

I will check back-in to reply and also once I've got more information.

just wanted to point out, as it is a common mistake, but you cannot use 2 i7-990x in an SR2 motherboard, you must use Xeon chips because they have 2 QPIs as opposed to the 990x's 1 QPI

Thanks for pointing this out! I will do a bit of research to find out what will work best from here now.

Not rude at all! I will probably wait and build the computer once I get to Kentucky, but the more I plan now the better. I can always optimize things in my list as they come along, but gathering all of my eggs now will make for a much more easy-going process once the time comes.

Although, I don't want to think about the "waiting for this to come.." too terribly much, because I've done that before and I learned that you will wait forever for the next thing, ha!

End of Year...

I suggest waiting.

I suppose it wouldn't entirely hurt to wait until a new release. But wouldn't that mean waiting for companies like EVGA to develop motherboards AFTER the chipset is initially released, possibly pushing my build into '12 ?

If you don't have time to waste then maybe you should go with the new i7 2600k. it'll save you a lot of money and I've seen benchmarks where the 990X was beaten by it.

They release ES's to MB companies long before release...
The big name MOBO companies are working on LGA2011 boards as we speak.

Oh as much as I'd like to have this computer yesterday, I have plenty of time to waste. Although I am doing this out of hobby, I actually do need a computer for doing some graphic design and 3d modeling in school, so I suppose I can wait until then and see how close everything is coming. Irregardless, I will continue with this log of questions/parts/etc to keep a good track of information.
