Well he asked for the nVidia card .. so I'd say the GeForce 3 TI500 too - and the Radeon 7200 for ATI

Yeah sorry, lol. Back then I really loved 3DFX. I wished they were still around. It was the coolest card to have in your rig.

Yeah .. 3DFX - they were really ahead of their time - I miss them too. Considering their last card came out back when GeForce 2 were around, and they first beat the 3DFX card when we hit the GeForce 4 series.

Wow. Apparently running Doom 3 @ 80 FPS was revolutionary for the time (read the reviews)
I remember Doom 3 coming out and the buzz being how its going to rape your system and all, but that wasnt close to 10 years ago that was only like 5 or 6 years ago.

And the GeForce 3 was the first GPU with programmable shaders, although they were pretty basic. Anyone remember cameleon mark?

Same here. Went from a ATI Rage Pro 128MB (my first discrete gfx card purchase) to the mx440, and was blown away. Dunno how much the MX cost, as my rich best friend gave it to me but the 128 Pro I think was only around $120 when I bought it in 2000. It was never a high-end card though.

Pretty sure I was rocking my MX with an OC'd Thunderbird on a A7N8X-Deluxe and IIRC correctly Deus Ex and Alice came out about that time ... well, 2001 or 2002, I forget.

Doom 3 didn't come out until 2004, same year as DX9 went mainstream. I remember that year we had Doom 3, Far Cry, and HL2. That was a banner year for gaming, no doubt. There's never been a DX version even close to as revolutionary as DX9 was. For Dog's sake, we're still using it now, and frankly it still looks great. Been playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood lately, and the game looks pretty amazing ... and it's only DX9.
