Hey.

Just wondering if I would see much difference between my current 260GTX and a 6950.

Yes would be quite a large upgrade also with less power consumption, heat and noise. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/318?vs=293 . Those comparisons are only at 1680x1050 as well so if your running a resolution higher than that the gains will be even greater.

6950 stock wouldn´t be the greatest update but if you are willing to overclock them then the difference will be easier to distinguish because the overclockability of the 6950 is just amazing compared to the 260

Definitely an upgrade, probably around double the FPS in most situations.

Even at stock it will be a huge upgrade. Trust me - I personally went from GTX 260 to HD 6870 and then to HD 6950.

6950 ~ GTX 260 SLI or faster.

If you do go for the upgrade, go for the 2gb reference card so you can unlock the extra shaders.

Two ways of unlocking the 6950.

1) Full 6970 BIOS. It will unlock the shaders as well as boost the card with 6970 clocks and timings. You use a 6970 BIOS download from somewhere else. Works for most, some unlucky ones bricked their card.
2) Unlock shaders only while keep the 6950 clocks and timings. You just mod your own BIOS. You can overclock the card though later. Much safer IMO.

There is lots of thread in this section on doing both.
