2 Questions about blue screens and cooling of capaciators....

Thread Starter
Hi there,

first, I think everyone know that screen "shutdown to prevent damage to your computer" and below "beginning dump of physical memory" shown for 2 seconds and restarting the PC when it reaches 100 %.

My question is: what is that screen related to? I don't know if I should see this as a "blue screen" or a "sudden restart" so memory, voltage or temp?

Second: my ASUS Board has that VDroop Issue despite Cool & Quiet being off. After a while running on high clocks, the CPU speed shown in coretemp briefly drops. As far as I know that happens because of capaciators on the row next to the CPU overheating. Now I wonder If there are any ways to cool them, if so, I could push the CPU much higher.

posting your error code would help,BSOD can be down to several things

what temperatures do you have?

you can either strap on a little fan like so:
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=145557

Or watercool the chipset using generic nb and vreg blocks.

Or just put the ramsinks on and let convection do the rest.

As you are using a reserator,do you have fans for air movement?

I cannot really see any error code as the screen wanishes too fast. But I'll try next.

About the air movement: I mounted a 5 cm fan on the open side of the casing pointed inwards to get some.

124 is memory i beleive, are you overclocking or undervolting your ram?
what is your overclock?is it FSB or multiplier?
can you run some memory tests to check your RAM is ok?
might be an idea to run a check on HDD to,see if you have bad sectors?

@ MightyMission

its not the rig in my sig, that one runs fine, but a Phenom II 940 BE with C2 stepping. I'll try to stabilize it on 3,7 Ghz. Unfortunately the MB is a ****ty ASUS M3A78 CM, which gives you very limited access to voltage controls. So VCore, NB and chipset voltages only have the options "auto, +50mV, +100mV and +150mV"

I'll test my RAM....
