Voltage spikes

Thread Starter
I dont know if this is normal but iv been warned several times on and off from ai Suite(asus program) that my voltages have been spiking. for example, in hwmonitor i see spikes on IOH core from 1.15 to 1.80(Somtimes Higher... this is from current and max). i have similar spikes on DRAM, IOH PCI, CPU PLL.
Could use some advice ASAP...
thx

UPDATE-
some major spikes too. dont know if this is a error but cpu pll value is 0.05v and max is 43.24v.
a lil worried about this. will bring back to stock setting till figured out. i had it OC to 3.8ghz following http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overc...beginners.html Guide.

You will always have voltage spikes and software can't really read them unless it is sustained. I doubt it is anything you whould worry about.

If you really had spikes like that, that board would have had the magic smoke coming out of it long ago. Probably best to just uninstall that software. Or use hwinfo32 for monitoring or something...

Ok thx guys. I figured it was a software error. Now to OC to 4ghz and leave it there. Also is it worth it to OC my ram? I have 3 ripjaw 2gb sticks. Tripple channel at 1600mhz(lower because of cpu OC)

Keep the RAM underclocked while you do the CPU and then when you are done go back and clock the RAM and tighten the timings if you can but you will see a higher gain from having the CPU higher, if the RAM has to be a bit slower don't worry about it, you won't notice much difference.

If it BSOD in Large FTT's then it is unstable.
An hour of Prime is not even close to stable in my book. I do 12+ hours of all three tests.

Ok I'll do that... I'll try atleast, I'm always on my pc. Idk if I can handle 12+ hours without it lol. Not to mention having to do it 3 times... but we'll see... it already froze on my while listening to music. Only happened once tho so not to worried. This will be a long 12 hours...

You should be able to surf the web and stuff, just don't do anything intensive like gaming.

Ah ok. I can do that. I also have 3 120mm fans on the way. They push 90cfm. Ones replacing rear stock fan. Ones going in my drive bay to help cool off my CPU and the other one is going to use the gourmet duct to push more air to my gpu. That should be plenty of cooling lol
