32" @720p?

That is quite large for such a small resolution.

After using this CRT, I get disgusted by the large text on my 24" 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 LCD monitors. How do you think I'd feel about your 32"?

Lol, you guys are misunderstanding OP's rant

He is ranting about how high res CRTs are cheaper and better than lower res LCDs that are more expensive

And also taking consideration that the manufacturing process for both are completely different
post #23 of 50
Yah, actually i got a 20" crt for free on craigslist, just had to pick it up. Makes a handy 2nd monitor when I'm doing work where it helps.

They are trinitrons. IMO you should really look at the high end ones, like the sony GDM-FW900 (16:10, 24", 2304x1440 @ 85hz),sony GDM-520 (21" 4:3, 2048x1536 @ 85hz) and some other ones I do not remember the names of, but I'm sure manyak will be here to list some.

1920x1440 @ 75hz is kinda meh, but a good deal for 5-30 dollars anyway, if used as a secondary monitor. I wouldn't use it for a main monitor..

How do the C520k and F520 differ? They seem almost identical from the specs?

Yeah but that's just because of TV standards and the capabilities of HDMI. The plasma panel itself runs at 600Hz.

The C520k comes with a colorimeter puck that it can calibrate itself with, plus a monitor hood. Other than that yep they're identical.

They made two different models for those additions? That's odd... These days they would just make another revision.. Not another model..

Oh how I wish I could find more of my monitor (s). I'd like two of them. Maybe three, if I'd be lucky. Yet, that is a pipe dream. Nobody will ever sell anything this high end on that site again... Sigh.

But not at 600Hz.
OT: I thought 60Hz is the refresh rate, 600Hz (60Hzx10) was how fast the pixels could flash in their subfields.

I think that the electronics were changed around quite a bit in the C520K though, to allow that puck to work. I don't think it's just firmware (but I can't say for sure).
