Need help finding a case M-ATX

Thread Starter
I planning a new build and cant seem to find a case that can fit my needs. I saying this I'm not even sure it possible but I thought I would use the wealth of information stored in your brains.....

I'll be waiting for the z series I hope (if i can wait that long)
I7 SB
4 X 4 1333Mhz DDR3
64/128 SSD
2 X F3's 1TB

The problem I have is that I would like 2 GFX cards WC'd or 1 dual gpu WC'd
and my cpu WC'd and I would like it to fit into the smallest case possible. Granted I could properly live with a 360/240 RAD mounted outside.

I've been looking at the graphite but it's just too big ofc being a midi. ATM i have the obsidian and all the parts in my sig which i can help use to fill out the build if necessary but otherwise money shouldn't be that much of an issue.

I've also looked at the LANBOX from thermaltake but it'll be hard to get the parts in IMO.

so any ideas guys, I'm open to suggestions about everything as my knowledge of SFF systems is non existent. My goal is to have the power of my current rig in a SFF trying to cut power consumption in half (ATM 850W)
and as said before money isnt too much of an issue......

thanks

I think you will get. It's not hard to get.
You will be cutting your CPU power usage by going Sandy Bridge, but your two GPUs actually use the bulk of the power so at this time to cut your power usage in HALF you will need to lower your GPU performance.

Other things can help such as going with an SSD and a Green drive replacing all your HDDs.

For a case, look into the NZXT Vulcan, In Win Dragon Slayer or In Win BR665 (same as Dragon Slayer, but looks a bit more demure and is cheaper).

SEO still boggles me I'll google it later ;P

Yea i was checking out the win dragon and was kinda sold on it really. I like the look and the size so It's between that and a LL-PVC.

As for the X-fire/SLI Yea I know they are my power killas I'll throw a post in another topic asking for alternitives.
I only game at 1080 so resolution shouldnt be to much trouble.
Do you know anyone that has the dragon by chance? would be nice to hear from someone that has experiance with this case ill also ask around.
Thanks for the reply I appreciate it....

I don't know anyone who has it. Try posting here in the Cases section.

For graphics, you should aim for the best single GPU. That would be a GTX 580 or Radeon 6970. That should give you better performance/watt than using dual graphics, but of course still give you decent performance. As an added benefit, your minimum frame rates would go up even if your average frame rates go down because of one GPU versus two in SLI/Crossfire.

Cooling becomes cheaper/easier too. Don't know what kind of GPU blocks you use, but those full-coverage blocks usually start at around $100 and go up from there regardless of it being an older or lower end card, or the latest and greatest.

I think with Sandy Bridge (overclock using Turbo multipliers while leaving EIST enabled) and a single latest and highest end GPU will get you pretty darn close to your goal of using half the power, while gaining in CPU performance and not losing in GPU performance.

Sorry, I had quoted the first reply to your OP, which was apparently deleted as spam.

Basically SEO = Search Engine Optimization. The more links a site has, the higher it ranks in a search engine. There's probably other stuff too that helps rankings, and I'm sure being on a popular forum doesn't hurt. Basically people who do SEO will create accounts at various forums and post links. This guy earlier here was even trickier, having the links in his sig, while posting semi-nonsense replies. Threads get page hits, each of his posts had four links, yada yada, site he links gets promoted and pushed up in search engine rankings.

Really shady stuff.

Some mod must have seen it and deleted it.

Hey thanks heaps for the input, I appreciate it. I'm having a terrible time finding a case. I just can't find one I'm totally happy with. I'll put some feelers out in the case forum to see what people say but I'm sure I'll get a load of fan boys ;P

It's looking like i'll have to go to a mid size case because of the WC'ing unless by some miracle sobody makes a M-ATX case that can Incorporate at least a 240 and a 120 RAD .......Dreams are free

Anyways thanks again dude

Not to derail the thread, but I'm curious, is pcdesignlabs taking orders/how much are they? It's probably pretty high being custom. :< I, too, am interested in an awesome sff matx case.

Dave at pcdesignlabs last said (2 months back) that he couldn't get a factory to make a new batch of the case, since they were charging a lot.

So you're best bet is to keep searching on ebay, and other for sale sites, for a used case. I check this link, from a month back

http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Painted-P...#ht_520wt_1139

I myself bought my case used off of ebay, since I couldn't get my hands on a new one.
Plus they cost $240 or so new
