[CVG]Mass Effect 3 to focus on smaller, more intimate squad - Page 3

post #21 of 69
Good.

ME2 focused far too much on recruiting members for your team, with the odd story developing mission and then a slew of mostly mediocre loyalty missions. ME1 got it bang on; squad members were picked up along the way, and furthered the storyline in doing so. Also, there were too many members in ME2; most of mine went unused after I found something that worked.

I'm hoping less time writing out pointless script for pointless members = more time working on main storyline.

I'd murder for not having Legion in my squad. I mean it.

As long as I can still somehow choose Legion and Garrus I'll be happy. Others were not as epic.

Legion was okay, but I don't understand why he seems to one of everyone's favorites. He was just another sniper character which made him useless to me as I too was a sniper. He was also kind of bland overall, he just looked cool.

Now Wrex... Well, I love Wrex.

Combined Tech skills with shotguns was her only specialty, but tech skills were not overly important in my opinion as long as you had some one along with a little bit to unlock stuff.

Though I guess my play style had Shepard using the shotgun so that my party member could actually hit something they shot at without bing right in front of it.Actually...in ME1 pistols seemed to do the best damage over time due to a much better accuracy.

She must have done something big in ME2...or is just because of her personality? She didn't really stand out in that reguard in my book...just sort of there.

You must have played on easy. Tech was vitally important against Geth, Biotics were VITALLY important against Rachinii and Krogan.

The only reason why people are complaining about the recruiting/loyalty missions is b/c they consciously know it's the same thing, different character in terms of the end result. It's a lot like the GTA series. You do the same stuff all game long with minor tweaks so as to keep it fresh. If Bioware didn't have that loyalty screen then most people wouldn't have even thought about it and would have been fine with it.

Personally, i was fine with it. I would have liked a longer main campaign but to me ME2 was MUCH better than ME1 due to the variety of the missions and the locales. In ME1, you had a strong main story and a WEAK side story that consisted of 1 ship used 30 times, and 2 bunkers used 40 times.
In ME2, the side story was strong and the main story was good.

I know this might sound alittle jaded but I'm hoping this isn't a precursor to "No interchangeable Squad members" as "Wider audiance" is to dumbing down the game. That being said I would've quite happily dropped the bomb on Kaiden myself on the first game biggrin.gif However I'm torn between who's actually a good character, I played through ME1 and ME2 without really interacting much with the characters .. that is to say I did their individual missions etc but when out in the field I didn't really tell them to do much, almost like they weren't there. I felt like I didn't need them most of the time.

I'd be happy as long as I get my mako climbing gear back rather than the piffy hovercrap and the "Probe launched" ><;
