you got it plugged into a power strip? check all your connections again and use a multi-meter if possible to check your volts/amps

You can get 2 defective PSU-s in row.Depends on the luck
But it can be user error as well as i can t understand if the CPU is overheating or not.

Exactly, 2 days old PSU, so don't think there is the problem and no it's not hot. Nothing is hot in fact.
Yes, shutting off immediately like when there is blackout.

Keep in mind that older Athlon CPU-s had a bug.
Sometimes the heatspreader (the metal thing with the name of the CPU written on) would not take the heat off the chip properly .It s the thermal used inside.
So it may be that when you start doing something the chip to not be able to give the heat to the CPU cooler as fast as it should thus building heat and forcing the mobo to shut down.

LE: If this is the problem the fix is to remove the heatpreader with a razor blade/cutter carefully ,but this can f u the chip totally if you force the blade to much into the CPU.

Well I bought it in May 2007 and if its now breaking down for sure I won't be playing with the heat-spreader, but rather buy new MoBo+CPU+RAM. Also as I have written before it's happening also when the computer is at idle.
Anyway, going through all the suggestions so far posted and will see which one will show where is the problem.

When you get the new combo try and remove the heaspreader ,then reapply thermal inside. You could sell it in a combo or use it for something else.
When you remove that cut on the corners and then carefully cut around beeing carefull not to get in to much as there are some things soldered inside over there.
Also the motherboard is old ,so swaping your CPU in a working mobo could clear the things up ,if it s the heaspreader bug or not.

After replacing power button for reset after 3 days it turned off again when idle, so either the reset button is wrong too or the problem is elsewhere.
Next step will be to do some memtest checks and motherboard detailed inspection/reassembly.
May it be also graphic card? Even without overheating?

I don t think the issue is the video card.
The motherboard can be also in trouble as it s already old.

You will need to start and swap components as you can t troubleshoot properly otherwise. You have CPU and mobo to test for.

Yeah, just I have recently moved and don't have any spare parts to exchange (The ones I own are 2000km far from me), so via software tests and visual checks I must narrow where the problem might be as I must buy the replacement new.
EDIT: passed Memtest twice without error, so do I need more testing of memory?

I don t think memory has anything to do with the issue.
Proper testing is 25+ passes for test 5 and 7 each of Memtest ,if the first pass shows no errors in none of the tests.
