[PCgamer] World of Warcraft’s first subscription drop: are you still playing? - Page 9

A few of my friends recently quit playing WoW, most of them quit years ago.
Not a single person I know as of now still plays it. My friends often compare hardcore WoW players to heroin addicts.

"OMG SITTING AROUND ALL DAY PVPIN' IS THE BEST THING EVER"
"Yea...You gained 10 pounds, your grades dropped, no girls wants you...lost your job because you keep skipping to play"
"So...I'm a lvl 85!!!!"
"yeah...."

"OMG HEROIN IS AWESOME IT LIKE GETS YOU HIGH N' STUFF"
"Yea but you do nothing but sit there when you're on it..Your grades dropped, no girl wants you, lost your job, you lost a lot of weight..Looking sickly skinny now"
"So...It makes you feel incredible"
"Yeah..."

I've not subbed to an MMORPG for longer than 6 months since DAoC... I think I played WoW for about 6 months before I realized it wasn't going to do for me what DAoC did. Still looking for a good replacement MMO.

They are just running simulations on you. Trying to figure out how long you'll do something and for what reward and what you'll put up with. The world is run by heartless game theorists who simply look at you like some sort of human resource.

I've seen people share accounts. It's even more common with roommates, so don't assume these were all created by 1 person.

i just recently cancelled my sub, i get annoyed with all the diehards who live for WoW and the fact that there's only so many times you can lvl other toons through the same zones until it gets old. 1 maybe 2 months is about as long as can handle wow before i get too bored

I always read that statistic as 12 million accounts, over the entire lifetime of the game. Is there a source that says otherwise?

It doesn't take too long before people realize, there are other games out there. You get tired of the same old crap. Cata offered nothing new and in some cases ruined the experience so people moved on. People will move on if there are better and fresher offerings.

For me, I just did not have the time to spend in an MMO. And the more time you have to play an MMO the better geared you are and the better you will own. So I moved on. It was a blessing in disguise for me. I realized that WoW is not the holy grail of games but there are much better games out there to be explored and cherished.

It's actually pretty damn amazing that this is the first drop. I would have figured that WoW peaked a long time ago. At any rate, until this drop continues or increases, all that's happening is the game is peaking.
