What's a good HDD company

Thread Starter
Well searching around newegg i always see mixed results about a lot of people saying it worked fine, but a lot of people saying DOA and bad sectors having to RMA etc etc. I was gonna choose a Hitatchi 1tb hdd but i'm not sure if i should just ignore everything bad said about it. Any recommendations? I want it to be 1tb

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

Haven't heard many complaints on these.

I have two 1TB Hitachi's and haven't had any problems with either one, although I did get one DOA but Newegg sent me a new one that worked fine. One of them I use as a storage drive internally and the second is in an external enclosure as a backup/extra storage drive. Like InspectrButters said though I hear a lot of people recommending the F3's.

There are only two 3.5" HDD companies left... Seagate and Western Digital.

However, Samsung and Hitachi only just began the process of integration.

Personally, I choose HDDs based on price per GB.
Once again...

All of my hard drives have been Western Digital, never had a bad one also.

WD is good... and so are the Samsung Spinpoint drives.

Do not buy Seagate.

They are all good, go with one that has the best GB to dollar ratio. There is absolutely nothing wrong with seagate, those that say otherwise are hoping on the bandwagon.

Western Digital is best I think.

Samsung is next on the list, but they just sold their HDD section to Seagate, so expect quality of those drives to start declining.
