Which is the best bios ?

Thread Starter
Hey guys . I want to change the bios on my 480 . So i want to know if there's a better/newer bios version than Asus's 70.00.35.00.00 . Doesn't matter if it's evga/zotac/gigabyte or any other .. As long as it does the job ... If it keeps the card cooler and faster ... that's great . Also , which are the best drivers ? I supose the last ones , but might be a specific version that works best with them ..

Newest drivers aren't always the best, 270.61 are causing issues for people, allot of people are reverting back to 266.58 But, it's all relative to what you're doing. Many people are finding those drivers to be fine, once again, it's all relative to what you're doing with the card that would warrant rolling back to older drivers.

As for the bios, usually a new VGA bios isn't needed unless you specifically know the card will operate better with XXX bios and is more than capable of using it.

I would use other means to obtain better performance and superior cooling, such as fan profiles and OC software ect..

See if this helps you

40c is actually considerably cool, very cool actually. I'm assuming this is idle temps ?

There's many variables as to why a card run's hotter than others, I have a sloppy setup in my tower and my 560 at max load doesn't go past 59c. But, it's also the literal best air-cooled 560 you can purchase.

If you have the case fan blowing against the card fans that's likely causing a serious issue too. Recycled air could also be hanging around the card or could in fact actually be re-used by the fans to cool off the card.

Regardless, your card is fine even at 100c, but that's not a temp you want your cards to run at.

Yes, that's idle temps i'm talking about . I overclocked the card to 801/1602/2002 on asus's stock 1.1v . It runs about 4-5 degrees hotter when overclocked . .

Another question : Do you know why can't i use rivatuner ? IT DOESN"T LET ME CONTROL ANYTHING . I can only use afterburner and evga precision, and i don't like those . I did my first overclock using rivatuner , and i just like the program more than any other overclocking program out there .

You increased clock speeds so it generates more heat. And since those are your idle temps that's very low and you're fine, you'd be fine up to 100c, which at that point your card would down clock itself to prevent a burnout.

RT hasn't been updated in over a year from what I've seen, so it doesn't coalesce with new drivers. MSI Afterburner actually uses a base form of RT, but AB is updated by MSI so the base RT gets updated with it. But, the standalone RT has been dead for quite some time.

270.61 has killed some of my older games. I had to go back to 266.58 to play Combat Arms and Oblivion, and I get about 2200 more ppd with the older package.
