Ok, do you guys think replacing my stock EVGA Geforce GTX 275 with a VisionTek Radeon 4870x2 is a good idea? Performance wise?

Yeah you would get a very nice performance boost but you have to consider the dual card stuff (micro-stutter, bad crossfire performace on some games, temperatures, power consumption, etc.) But other than that it will be a very nice upgrade for your system

Hmm I dont think i have to worry about the crossfire performance all to much considering its a single slot, but i think since its a old card the drivers are pretty stable at this point.

The 4870 X2 has internal-crossfire between the two 4870s there.
Drivers for this card is still bad... I just got rid of mine, but it works most of the time.

As the quote below, it is a single PCB, but two 4870's on there with an internal crossfire bridge

Drivers aren't bad... you just have to be selective :\\

Banedox, for my 4870x2 when I owned it, 10.4a [the other 10.X were pure trash for me] was the best option for me... worked perfectly with BFBC2 at the time... which was the biggest hurdle for ATi's drivers. ^^

The latest drivers should be fine at this point. Also keep in mind, you're basically going from a 275 to a 295 in terms or performance.. it's a great upgrade if you want.

Oh total side note, the 4870x2 is effing loud. It is an uber hot card. Personally I'd keep the 275 or maybe upgrade to a 460 or something that's quieter. The 4870x2 is absurdly loud... though performance wise it's a beast. If you put the x2 under water... then it's a non issue though
