Yes, the companies getting more money in the long run is a great thing to have, I mean, Kotick absolutely needs his yacht and summer home.
Believe me, it's not a lack of cash to spend, it's a "Why the hell should I? You guys get enough" kinda thing.

I mean, really? 4 bucks?... Eat less sweeties for the month :/
I'm not trying to be rude...
Why should I get the exact same thing as I had, but with $4 or as you say, less random crap from a cafe?
If the online is decent and has stuff that you don't
get on free online servers, sure, I'll pay $4 a month, but XBL has nothing extra.

Maybe it's because I like different games, but as someone with both a PS3 and a 360...Yeah, no.
They're roughly equally crappy in my experiences, PSN has the occasional randomly stop responding thing (And now its been hacked, luckily I never buy any games or DLC on anything bar Steam) and XBL has a worse player experience due to every 12 year old in the world deciding that a game of Rock Band needs them singing along even though they're failing Living on a Prayer on easy bass, there's also the cost for something that when it comes down to it, is inferior to the service I get with any Valve game, less kids talking and being annoying, less hackers, less "The service is down, so are all your games", etc.

That's like me saying you can't compare a Yugo and a Ferarri because the Ferarri has more cylinders, sure, that means it has a massive advantage but they still do the same damn thing.
