Air Con Idiocy

Thread Starter
My friend has recently bought an i7 2600K and he complained that he wasn't getting good temps. I sent him through numerous sites looking for air cooling and water cooling. (What I should have done, right?)

He came back with an idea of buying an AIR CON and piping cold air into his case with PVC pipes. Surely this isn't a good idea

Can anyone reccomend a very good air cooler for the i7 2600k? the price isn't important, go mad!

There's no reason it wouldn't work. Condensation wouldn't be a problem, just running costs and hot air problems. For the price of an air con unit, why not go watercooling?

Megahelams? Silver Arrow? NHd14? He needs one of those, plus some AP15 gentle typhoons.

Thanks for your help guys, he's crazy. He says because he "knows how to take the side off" he can fit these things. What about the Spire Gemini? Should I reccomend that too? i was considering getting one for me and him together, get a bit of a discount.

I have reccomended the ones you have posted. Thanks.

Let him do what he wants and then take pictures for us. I need a good laugh.

Not the most practical idea but, and correct me if I'm wrong, WC will never get sub-ambient temps - Air con will.

I say persuade him to follow it. Pics and reports appreciated

The h50 is pretty weak.

Convince him to get a decent air cooler.. AC is a dumb idea imo.
good idea, expensive in electricity.
tell him to get water cooling and the air conditioning unit... make a chiller out of the compressor, condenser and evap... then you just get awesome temps all the time.
