Nikon D100 not taking photos - Page 2

I've got just two lenses. An AF Nikkor 35-70mm 3.3-4.5 and an AF Nikkor 75-240mm 4.5-5.6. Neither have image stabilisation so eventually when I can afford to, I'd love to replace them and return them to my grandfather.

Ah, well, unfortunately yea, like I mentioned before those lenses will not be able to autofocus on the D40.

Doing a bit of research, it seems that the D40 has the exact same viewfinder size as your D100, but the D40 will be a bit darker since it uses pentamirror instead of pentaprism.

I think maybe that one might not be an option then. Pulled out my D100 a few weeks ago after not having used it in a while and was shocked at how dark it was in comparison to the 1000D. I don't think I could go any darker tbh. Taking a look on TradeMe (our version of eBay) I only spotted one D40, going for $475. For the small difference in price, I'm thinking the D80 could be the better choice. It's certainly more advanced than the D40 but maybe that's a good thing. It'll be like growing into a pair of nice pyjamas lol.
