New gaming rig, finally going with Intel

Thread Starter
Hi OCN! My father is purchasing my gaming rig to get into PC gaming (rig is 'kyoto in profile) So I ordered a new system (it's in my sig). I've been with AMD for 2 generations (AMD Athlon 4800+, then 965 BE) but I've become tired of waiting for AMD's new platform so I decided to cave and buy an i7 2600k.

Now for my question, I plan to reuse my Corsair H50 (under a year old). What general temps can I expect at 70-75f/21-23c ambient? Also, how far do you think I could potentially overclock it? I've heard the Sandybridges overclock great.

Thanks!
Yukirin

Depends greatly on your CPU.
If you get a good i7-2600k, then you can try and go for 5.0+
If you get very unlucky then you could screw your mobo/cpu with just 4.5.

But yes, the sandy's are very very easy to OC compared to the previous generations.
You should reach 4.5 with no problem.

However, I would go with a different cooler. Something like Thermalright Archon or H70/Kuhler. H50's great but it just doesn't cut it for me.
And I would've gone with another mobo as well.
ASRock Extreme4 at least.

And I would add another HDD if you're not going to get a SSD and raid those two to get much better speed.
