CM 212+ frustrations

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

So this afternoon I received all the bits for my new build and set about putting it all together - I haven't built a machine in years, so I'm a little rusty but very excited!

Now, I was told on another thread here, that the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ would fit an MSI P67a-GD65 with Corsair Vengeance RAM. Alas, I've just put the fans on and the stick in DIMM1 does not look too comfortable - it's touching and is leaning over a little. One of the clips doesn't seem to want to clip all the way and I'm a little uncomfortable giving it more force.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm getting sad over here frown.gif

Thanks!

Is the cooler itself hitting the RAM, or just the fan? If it's the fan, just scoot it up a bit so it clears the RAM. The fan clips slide vertically pretty easily.

OK, the highest point of the top clip is now flush with the top of the metal cooler. The DIMM1 stick isn't leaning as much, but it's still touching.

Would you deem this to be acceptable? The fan blades aren't touching, just the outer plastic.

To be safe, I think I'd make sure it's not touching at all. To clear my ripjaws, I had to move mine a little above the top of the cooler.

You could always just clip the fan on the other side of the Cooler, in a pull, instead of a push, that is unless you're running dual fans like me wink.gif

OK, the lower part of the top clip now covers the top 3 metal layers of the cooler and I have full clearance for DIMM1. Hopefully that won't effect the temps too much.

I'm feeling much better... thanks frigginacky!!

One more question: the cooler can still twist a little, and the center mounting screw appears to do nothing (keeps turning). Is that normal?

it looks ok to me. Is it still touching? if so, move it up a tiny bit(1-5mm's) farther.

Nope, not touching. There is a little over a 1mm gap.

A little concerned about the center mounting screw not catching any threads. It just keeps on turning. I can twist the cooler with a little force, yet the 4 main mounting screws seem to be tight enough.

You can put the fan on the other side. Make sure you unscrew the plastic clips and screw it to the other side. That way the fan will pull air through the heatsink and out towards the exhaust fan.

You could also move the ram sticks into the blue slots since you are only using 2 sticks of ram.
