PSU Problem

Thread Starter
I just moved all my components into a new case. I set it up and go to turn it on and nothing happens. If I turn the power off and then back on the first time I press the power button the fans spins for a sec and then stops. Pressing the power button again has no effect at all (no fan spin).

I am not sure as to the problem. The list of things I think could be wrong are bad psu, bad power switch, bad contacts on the motherboard for power switch or not enough juice to start up.

I really need some help here as I am not sure how to fix this, Any advice would be much appreciated.

Double check your MB standoffs.

OK. Now I am confused. I decided to try lack of power. I always used the 4pin motherboard power connector without problems. I had the option to use an 8 pin but never have. I just put in a new GPU and thought maybe I needed more juice. I put the 8 pin in and now when I press the power the case fans all come on. So does the gpu fan. The problem is that the cpu fan comes on then goes off and the computer still does not boot.

I am thinking that maybe the new gpu (hd6990) is drawing to much power from the pci-e slot and leaving the motherboard underpowered. I have a molex plug on the motherboard which I can use to provide more juice to the pci-e. I am wondering if I should try this?

Does anyone else have any ideas?
