It's like obscured by the fan so I'm having a hard time getting at it. Any ideas? >_>

Remove then fan... Canned air dusters usually come with a nice narrow straw that is useful for blowing into tight spaces.

Definitely invest in a can of air, sounds stupid but it is really amazing. You press a button and lots of air comes out, gets rid of all your dust, and it has a ton of uses. You can find it in most hardware stores in the electrical department.

Yeah I was thinking about getting a can of compressed air. I'll see what that can do.

Can you use a butter knife or something to get it out?

I'm serious. My CPU heatsink uses those rubber grommets for the fan attachment, and unless I remove the fan, it's a pain getting the heatsink unscrewed (two are under the fan). Getting the fan undone is a bit of a hassle too, as I usually use pliers, but the ones I had weren't narrow enough. I thought about it, and tried slipping a butter knife between the fins to push the rubber grommets out worked even better than I'd been doing it all along, and I realized it's probably be good for dislodging stuffed dust buildups. If he can get it in and the fan doesn't prevent it, it should work great.
