Unstable overclock all of a sudden

Thread Starter
So, today i flashed a new bios for my mobo hoping that msi finally fixed a bug with some gaming mice. Few hours later i got a bsod with x101 error code, so i raised voltage but it kept getting the same bsods all over again. After that i reflashed the old bios and applied same settings which i've used before... Overclock was still unstable, even with voltage raised by 0.02V.

Any help would be appreciated.

well you guessed right with that error code, x101 is increase vcore.. since that didn't help I'm thinking it's a Ram issue. Try a bit more voltage or looser timings then test again

Before you did any kind of flashing, how did you determine the stability of your rig?

Prime95 and Linx... It was with 1.32V and now even at 1.34V I get random bsods.

I had a problem like this with gta4 crashing and odd bluescreens for ages that I seem to have cured. What I didn't realise was how easily my graphics drivers got corrupted in a crash. A recent update to the new nvidia drivers seemed to cure that so I kept it in mind. Since then I haven't had crashes in GTA4 at 4.4GHz.

A few nights ago I went silly trying to add .1 of a point to any or all HWBot scores that I could. If I started crashing (At 4.6GHz) then crashes came faster and faster until I ran the graphics drivers through a reinstal. Then it was relatively stable again and I could do a good number of benches without crashing. I was surprised but happy with that.

Cant guarantee that is the same for everybodies overclock, but worth a try.

I loosened the RAM timings a bit, and so far it's working as it should... No bsods since then, and I hope there won't be any.

Damn... it happened again, no idea why. I guess I could reinstall graphics driver and see if it fixes the problem.
