Fan controller question

Hi guys,

I recently purchased six Gentle Typhoon 4250 RPM fans (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12...12B9AP-30.html ).

In addition to that, I also purchased a fan controller (Sunbeam Rheobus Extreme), and six NZXT 3pin fan cable extensions (

)

Well, I was apparently dumb and didn't see that the GT 4250 fans come stock with a 4pin molex connectors. It only has an RPM wire for the 3pin connector.

My question is, as stupid as it sounds: how exactly do I make all this work with my fan controller?

Can I just connect the extenders to the RPM wire and then plug that into the fan controller? Or will I need to buy some adapters to make it work with the 3pin extensions?

Thank you in advance. Sorry if it's a stupid question. I'm new to the whole fan controlling area.

i think the way you said would work fine but i think for full operation potential you are also going to need to plug into PSU

So, plug the molex connectors to the PSU, and then use the 3pin extenders + RPM wire on the fan controller?

Just making sure I understand correctly.

No, do not connect it like that.

OK, first things first ... the 3/3 pin extentions you bought are more or less useless.
What you need is a female 4-pin molex to 3-pin power adapter

I believe at least one of these comes with the fan controller, so you'll need to buy a few more for the other fans. Use this adapter to connect the fan to the fan controller (Yellow=12v, Black=Gnd). Now, if you want to know the RPM of the fan, plug the single yellow wire from the fan to an open fan header on your MB. Typically, most current MB's have at least three fan headers available, but YMMV. Also take care, plug only one fan (yellow RPM wire) per fan header.
