So, people shouldn't be informed that a system that was advertised as 'malware free' is no longer malware free?

Yes, the anti-mac crowd is being a tad overzealous, but you aren't helping...

I have been fighting that stupid thing at work for 2 weeks, I am tech support for a school district and kids love installing crap on computers when they see it pop up.

Well, you tend to get what you pay for.

I've never owned one myself, but I'm told that if something happens to your MBP, you take it to the apple store and they give you one to use while yours is repaired. Walk in, walk out.

Sure, the hardware is overpriced, but you aren't just paying for hardware, you're paying for the customer care too.

PS: Keep in note I'll never own a MBP unless I get it secondhand.

It's an item. People form opinions about that item, and are willing to voice it. It doesn't have to be rational and you don't have to agree with it.
I don't hate anything. I just think it's funny that people are making these completely irrational assumptions and statements about a platform. As a "Linux Lobbyist" you should be all too familiar with the ignorance most of these people display about a specific platform.

Wow this turned into a flame war fast!

The main reason I smiled was honestly, it was about time. With market share going up it was inevitable for these things to start appearing. I probably smiled in the realization that I was in the moment where I realized Macs were no longer superior to PCs in this aspect.

That being said I have my custom rig, an iPad, an iPhone, and a macbook pro. So it had nothing to do with my personal biases (i love OS X) but more on the lines of imaging those snooty genius bar employees freaking out when their impermeable operating system is penetrated.
