About how tough was the LX0-101 exam? I am going to take mine in the morning. I have briefly ran through the labsims but Ive been a casual linux user for about 4 years now. How tough should the exam be for me?

I've never taken it (thought about it, but I'm not sure it's worth it for my background i.e. no computing degree). I think it's quite CLI-based though, and distro-independent

got my cert finished earlier this week

you need both lx0-101 and lx0-102

both are a huge PAIN! >_>

fill in the blanks should not be allowed on tests that cost you from either 140 or 180 dollars.... even more so considering IN LINUX you can tab complete commands... i missed a few questions cause i couldnt remember how to spell the last half of an obscure command i always tab complete...

first test is a little easier imo, its your fundamentals, all your CLI your hardware stuff configuring everything your system files and package managers and things like taht

second test is kinda irritating becuase its all server stuff and unless your a sysadmin you probably dont have much experience with it :/ mail servers, sql databases, annoying junk like that... the user and group administration part of it was pretty easy for me though make sure you know your subnetting for the second test because it is in the networking information you have to know, i was caught off guard luckily i know how to subnet really well lol

dont forget to allow Comptia to send your info over to LPI it takes them ages... but once it gets to LPI for both tests you get LPIC-1 cert also, which is a bit more valued... and then from LPI you can fill out a form on Novells site with your LPI info and get Novell CLA
Kinda meh now...

Linux+ is one of the more basic certifications. Its basically the A+ but for linux. It consists of basic command line stuff, usage etc.. If you have been using linux for the last 4 years or so you *should* be able to pass it easily depending on how deep you get into the system.

EntTheGod: xD If you think thats hard take the redhat exams. I have my RHCT and my RHCSA - Would have had my RHCE but missed it by one question which I realized as I was walking out of the test

linux+ used to be easy, its not by comptia anymore, its LPI, and i still passed with flying colors i just think fill in the blank questions can go die in a fire

redhat exams would be easier imo, practical exam works better :/ id at least have my tab completion...

The exam was pretty easy. I didn't have much of a problem at all, most of the exam was centered completely off commands and usage. BUT the fill in the blank questions sucked, I dont think anyone should have much of a problem with it if youve used linux for a few years. just learn your commands.
