But exceeding 75Â°C while stress testing is not going to cause any harm to a Q9450 (or to my E8400 for that matter). At worst, reaching or exceeding 75Â°C will just cause some instability due to the extra heat.
As you know, the Tj. Max is 100Â°C. That means that the CPU is supposed to either throttle itself down or turn itself off if that temperature were reached because that's supposed to be about the point where damage can begin occurring.
Of course, I wouldn't want anyone to consider ~75Â°C (or even 70Â°C) to be a good core temp when stress testing because even my little Tuniq Tower keeps my CPU well under 60Â°C at all times. However, it's not a seriously bad thing if a CPU like the Q9450 reaches or exceeds 75Â°C.
