i5 2500K Overclock

Thread Starter
Hi I've just started stress testing my first ever overclock, I started small first by simply adjusting the multiplier to 40x rather than 33x, no extra voltage, and thats all I changed. It seemed very simple but anyway :S
Currently I'm stress testing and at the moment the maximum temperature I've achieved is 51 degrees, is that ok?
CPU-Z says my core is an Intel i5 2500K running @ 3.3GHz but further down it says the core is running at essentially 4GHz, is there something wrong with the overclock?

Also would it make more sense to increase the top turbo ratio on the core to 40 and then increase the rest of the turbo function in increments rather than just adjust the multiplier for a static overclock?

Thanks Raprash! I'm quite pleased, PC had a difficult start to say the least but its all fine now other than a slow boot which i've yet to diagnose :/
But yeah FreekyGTi its up to 52 maximum, or at least I think it is, why does real temp have 4 temperatures? Thats the highest number amongst the four, first one is 47 :S

EDIT : Freeky, what fans you got on your H60? I saw a major difference stock temperatures between Akasa Vipers and Corsair stock fans, maybe investing in two gentle typhoons would help?

the 4 temps represent the 4 cores...the highest temp is usually the first core or core 0...it just seems to work harder than the rest...i actually dont know the reason why it has a higher temp the the others

yeah my STOCK clock has been blending for 30 min and its hit 59c as its high...its got me wondering if i did something wrong or something is wrong with a part

My H70 at first didn't cool at all, I just made sure it was sitting on the core properly, turned out it was sitting slightly above it, yours could be on it but not completely? cause stock I got maximum of 41 degrees in a blend :S although only for about 20 minutes cause I went to overclock then which I am still stress testing (doesn't seem to stress it :S)

What do you stress with?

Prime95 Blend is what works best with SB.

Is there any other software I can use to benchtest? Should my system be lagging when its being stressed or something?
And is there any other software other than real temp for testing temperatures? Cause 52 seems low :S
