Need help overclocking E5700

Hi All,

This is my first time to post a question in this forum. I'm also very new to overclocking, so I hope I can seek an answer to my problem here.

I have an LGA775 system:
CPU : E5700 (currently OC'd at 3.75 GHz)
CPU cooler : CM Hyper 212+
MB : ASUS P5G41T-M-LX
Mem : Kingston Value Ram PC 1333 (2 x 2GB, total 4GB) (currently run at 600 MHz, the rated FSB is 1200 MHz)
GPU : HD 5770 1GB
PSU : Cooler Master Extreme Plus 460W
OS : Xp 32 bit

Here are some of the BIOS settings:
- Bus speed : 300 MHz
- CPU/ FSB ratio = 12.5
- Memory voltage = 1.78V
- NB voltage = 1.3V
- VTT voltage = 1.35V
- CPU VCore = +0.15V (at max load is about 1.4V)

With this settings, my PC is stable. It can run prime95 (blend test) without problem. But when I want to OC the CPU to 4GHz, I got some problems.

I tried one scenario to increase the CPU/ FSB ratio to 13. I can boot up into windows, but it always got an error at small FFT test on prime95.
The other scenario that I tried is to keep the CPU/FSB ratio at 12.5, then increase the bus speed (thus automatically increase the rated FSB speed). My PC won't boot up even at 310 MHz of bus speed.

Does anyone have an idea to solve my overclocking problem?

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bump up the FSB a little, and then increase the VTT voltage and maybe the northbridge voltage a little more. Doing good!

Hi ESP, I tried to increase the NB voltage to 1.3125, and VTT voltage to 1.375. Then I increase the Bus speed to 305, followed by reducing CPU/FSB ratio to 12.

I can boot up to windows, but when I run prime95, it restarts on its own..

Could the problem lies with the PSU?

While your power supply is cutting it very close to your systems output I'm not entirely sure that it is holding back your overclock.

Go back and set all of your voltages to AUTO, and change the FSB to 333 then set the multiplier to 10x.

If this will run with stock vcore settings, then thats great. But if this config doesn't work then you simply increase the vcore until it's stable. That board is meant to run 333FSB so these settings should not be overclocking anything on the motherboard, just the CPU.

Tried to set the FSB to 333, multiplier to 10x, all voltages to AUTO. The result is that my PC won't boot up at all..

wahaha, no idea what's wrong
