Hey Guys i just got my Gigabyte P67X board and 8 GB corsair 1600 ram in.

I bought this combo deal.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.637592

Should i RMA this and buy this combo? MSI Z68 board + 8 GB 1866 corsair ram?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.651733

Only a $5 difference. I do a decent amount of video encoding BTW.

My build has a xfx 6950 card btw.

Unless you want to use both the onboard video (which you won't, seeing as you have a 6950) along with overclocking your CPU, there is no reason for you to go to Z68. P67 is still a strong platform. The only additional Z68 feature worth mentioning is SSD Caching, but no one would use that anyway.

Yeah SSD caching is useless to me anyway. I have a 128 gb crucial c300 for all OS, Apps, and Games + 1 TB external that i had left over for all the media crap.

Would the z68 be any better for the video encoding i do compared to just using the 6950? Ive read quick sync's quality isn't the greatest.

idk seems like a hard decision since the difference is only $5 and like $10-$15 in return shipping.

Do you want the features?

That's all there is to it. You either want them or you don't.

Yeah, definitely not worth it. Z68's "features" are all that separate p67 and z68. SSD caching is useless to most enthusiasts, and quick sync is really quirky.

I'd say keep your p67, not worth the money/time.

For me, the only reason to get a Z68 board would be because there aren't any more P67 boards available. YMMV

Video encoding on z68 using media expresso will be much faster than the usualy software process.
