Trouble with backplate

Thread Starter
Hi,

i've just purchased a thermalright 120 extreme to replace my domino coolit alc water cooling (hated the big screen that it had).

I have just come to switch the backplates around but i am having some major issues getting the current backplate off. I've trying pulling it off with quite a lot of force, I've also tried heating it slightly with a hair dryer and pulling again but no luck.

anyone got any ideas?

thanks

problem solved, i put the bracket screws into the back of the backplate and used them to get a better grip for pulling it off, this with heating every now and then to loosen the adhesive and it finally came off after about 45 mins.

Complete and utter ball ache, but got there in the end lol

Next time don't use sticky pads. Also, using a haridryer to heat the pads can help remove a backplate.

Try using a small flat blade screwdriver VERY CAREFULLY or a razor blade VERY CAREFULLY.

Fishing line will cut it off also. Just run it under and move it back and forth and it will cut through the pad. That is why i always leave the pad cover on for this reason. As mentioned a hair dryer will work while twisting it lightly. Using wd-40 and or some 91% isopropyl will clean it up after you get it off.
