I know that for high-quality headphones such as the HD555s, the HT|Omega Claro Halo has a special ohm jumper on the PCB that allows your headphones to take full advantage of full sound. It also has a headphone amp that gives a much more clear sound to headphones.

HD 555s aren't high-quality headphones.

HD 600s are. HD 555s are more mainstream.

And as far as I know, the XTS has the same amp.

While I have no doubt the Claro Halo is a better quality card, the STX does have a headphone amp as well.

For gaming, will this really make a significant difference? I'm not in the studio mixing "wet" tracks or anything. Just rolling around blasting hot, fiery lead and slashing stainless steel into foes.

Depends on the state of my hair; I feel uncomfortable wearing headphones over wet hair. Otherwise, I have a 5.1 set that suffices for FPS.
