I have a challenge for all you OCNers...

Thread Starter
I've seen several people, who use Desktops primarily, bashing others who want to buy a laptop for a set price. For instance, someone has a $1000 budget and they want a gaming laptop. Not hard to pull off at all.

However then comes along the quartet of donkeys who consistently state that they could bet a better desktop for the same price.

So I present this challenge to you, do just that.

And just so we're on the same page. Use mine as reference. I got mine for $1,101 shipped in three days. If you think you can best my laptop with the same budget, it must include EVERYTHING required for the computer. Monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, tower, etc. EVERYTHING. And the budget includes shipping too.

Please try to match this machine. Check the sig.

A GTS 450 would be an equivalent to the performance of the GTX 460m
post #5 of 29
There still is the mouse keyboard, case, and windows key. Still Blows the laptop apart.

Plus, the one and main difference. Laptops are not built to last. Desktops have multitudes more reliability.

LOL PWNED!!!!!!

AND OP, that's an awesome laptop. I would have bought that exact one in place of my current laptop if it had a smaller screen.

I didn't include Mouse or keyboard, or even the shipping as the OP stated, because that would be nitpicking.

Why bother with shipping, if you can go to the local store and pick up the parts personally?

Also, even if they are crap, most people have mice or keyboards lying around, so including them for the sake of bloating the budget, seems fruitless to me

Pre built system $700
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883227302
monitor is $100.

Very seriously doubt that.

And to PanicProne, you think I'm nitpicking but I'm serious. Include everything please.

This is all using Microcenter - prices on some items are cheaper via newegg, plus it includes state taxes etc. in the end it all evens out - this would absolutely dominate your laptop without blinking
