Yep. i need 250fps for comp play on cod4, and i can see tearing like crazy with my eyes at 250fps.

CRT doesn't tear for me, at least in my eyes. I got my CRT next to my TVs, it looks so cute

I don't need to vsync anything at 110hz. Practically no tearing there... At least any that I find noticiable.

crysis2: No idea. Above playable, didn't have a counter running.
just cause: 30-35ish. Above playable for sure. 'Tis a same it glitched out something fierce, couldn't play it.
metro: Don't have it, don't want it, don't care about it.
f1: Awful game. Some tracks it was 80+, some tracks it was 8. Sometimes the track itself was fine but the pits were a complete slideshow.
bfbc2: Not sure. Playable but only just. Got bored as soon as I beat the campaign, haven't touched it since.
nfs hot pursuit: Several hundred. A game from 1998 does not make my computer break a sweat. I'm not sure it needed to be at 3D clocks to run it!
New Vegas: 25-85 unless there's lots of NPCs in the area.
Garry's Mod: 15 to 150, depends on what I'm building and what other contraptions are in use on the server.
Portal 2: Smooth as butter. Never had need to start an FPS counter.
GTA IV: Playable, but only just.
Robot Arena 2: Like butter. This is also the only game I run at my monitor's native of 2048x1536. Again, though, old games don't tax computers much, if at all, these days.
GTA:SA: I never could get it to go over 60FPS. I had it flat maxed out, my rig had no issues running it, V-sync was off(and if it was it would have been locked to 75FPS), but it was bumping up against a cap I couldn't turn off. So I shrugged and had fun.

All games, unless otherwise noted, are run at 1600x1200, anti-aliasing and anistrophic filtering off unless required, settings at medium, draw distances at medium. Honestly I don't really care as long as it's playable. I'm not the type that has to justify his credit card debt by bragging about framerates.

This. I don't know why the hell people run games at 100+ FPS unless just for e-peen comparisons, if my FPS rate runs that high I always force some extra visual settings to bring it down. I'd take a lower framerate over an insanely high framerate with screen tearing everywhere any day of the week.

EDIT: To the guy above, I'm also running 1440x900 good stuff dude.
