Adobe After Effects alternative?

Thread Starter
Hi I am looking for an alternative preferably one that is free... I am a web designer and would like to create a professional looking video advertisment. Thanks!

I don't believe there is anything nearly a powerful for free. But depends on what you want to do, Premiere Pro is just like a much much better windows maker and video sequencer with low effects power. After Effects is for high level graphics. The only alternative I can think of is Sony Vegas, which I found difficult to use vs. AE and PP, not sure if its as powerful as AE.

Sony Vegas is not as inclined as a video editing program as it is a special effects/compositing program, but it has worked for me sometimes
