Alienware OC - Help! I Tried (almost) Everything! - Page 2

its an H50 IIRC with push/pull or just push and a poorly ventilated case. Take the side-panel off and if the temps drop, you need more intake fans

He giggles because the CPU is a lot more powerful than the GPU's, with that CPU Alienware should have put like crossfire 470's or something

Ont think ull be able to do 4.2 with the cooling u got. Alienware will just throw a sticker on an h50 wannabe and call it water cooling truth is in an alienware case there is not going to be to much airflow and on top of that I bet u only got one stock fan on that 120 rad. I doubt ull be able to ht 4 with safe temps u should be shooting for 3.8 to be safe. Doubt the mobo will be able to handle it either

alright guys well sounds like my hopes of 4.2 aren't do-able. My 3.8 was still giving me 77c on prime95 which is not wear and tear i want to do.

Running at 3.6ghz now, seems stable (prime for 2 hours so far... going to bed soon), peak temp 69c. I can dig it.

crap!

Please help!

I have it at 3.6ghz now. I ran Prime95 for 24 hours, no crash. Max temp 75c (kinda high but figure it's OK).

For some reason, the computer feels slower than when it was stock 2.8ghz!!

Is this possible??

"feels slower" is probably the worst guide for performance ever lol
real results would say something

Hahdahaha, i noticed that too!

Anything measureable would be a good indication of performance increase/decrease.

Because of the poor ventilation it will get hotter over time as it cant drop the heat from the case. My GF has one just like you (got it before we dated) with the exception of a few components. She does have the liquid cooling on it though and I remember doing prime at stock and the temps were pretty high.

Before you attempt to OC it any more (not sure what will void your warrenty but I haven't touch hers because of her 3yr one. Just built her a new one.) I would try to add some better fans or more fans. Also you might wanna try and check to see what MB they use. With to much volts through a poor MB you can fry the VRM on it. Typed this from my phone so sorry for grammar and I hoped it helped.
