Questions about the Samsung Galaxy Ace vs Nokia 5800

I'm looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy Ace to replace my 5800. But I have a few questions, so I hope that someone here can answer them...

1- How is the Ace's battery compared to the 5800? I'm used to getting 2 to 3 days in 2G mode and screen light at minimum on my 5800. I mainly use it for listening to music, texting, and Internet browsing once in a while.

2- Sound quality, how good is it compared to the 5800, with speakers and with earphones?

3- How does it perform in terms of smoothness and speed, it is faster than the 5800 right?

4- As for Android updates, I know the Ace will be getting 2.3, but what about future Android versions, does anyone know if it will be getting them too?

Thanks in advance, I really hope someone can help me out here...

1- The 5800 will likely get much better battery life as Symbian is more power-efficient than Android.

2- No idea.

3- It's a newer phone with more powerful hardware, so the Galaxy Ace will be smoother. Not to mention Symbian has failed since the introduction of touchscreen. The UI will be much more intuitive.

4- It's hard to say. Companies more or less pick and choose what updates to push out, and when. Don't plan your decision on what the phone might be, base it on what it is now. I already made that mistake with my N8...

Thanks.

Do you happen to know if the Ace's battery will be really a lot less than the 5800? I read in a few places online that it actually lasts around 2 days or so, which is more or less what I can get from my 5800.

With my normal usage, my N8 would last ~4 days while this Galaxy S lasts around 18 hours. The Galaxy S has a much larger battery. It depends on settings, but with all else equal, Android will drain a battery faster than Symbian. I'd be surprised if you didn't have to charge a Galaxy Ace every night.

1. You may get a day with a GS, of course you can mess around with rooting and maybe get another 12 hours out of it, you won't get much more though. Smartphones drain batteries like nobodies business
2.earphones, they'll be fine, probably better, speakers though, you'll have to ask someone who has owned both
3. Definitely, you can get it much much smoother with some hacking though
4. As far as I know it probably won't get an update after 2.3, depends on samsung though(they may start releasing updates for pretty much everything, however unlikely that is).

Thanks, maybe I will have to think more about whether I buy the Galaxy Ace or not.

Sometimes I'm out of town for a whole day, and when that happens I usually listen to a lot of music on my phone during the trip, and use the GPS sometimes too, so I need to make sure I won't run out of battery.
