i have rev 1.0 board had f4 bios now running f8 just to update m/b seeing my x2 550 in windows just check gigabyte site and check bios list for your board and rev, will only be updates for x4 phenom x6 keyboards sound compatability, dont think it will help overclocking much, have only changed multi and vcore, you can try for 4ghz but not worth it im happy with 3.8, had the board and chip for a while now overclocked from day one and never had a problem touch wood my gtx 275 gets 98% gpu load in most of my games so its good where it is, codemaster games grid, f1 2010, seem cpu dependant all ways in the 90% usage x4 will help anyway good luck with it let us know how you get on asus990x sabretooth here i come.smile.gif

I personally use the FG BIOS.I have version 2.0.

I would not update the BIOS if everything is all right.
And you seem to be ok.
I personally tested from the latest available ,the beta one going backwards ,to see which works best for me and i can tell that all newer than FG have issues for me.Also tested BIOS-es prior to FG that are not for download anymore.

Problems with newer BIOS-es are related to AHCI BIOS.Latest 2 generating HDD errors in my W7 logs or removing that removable drive icon from the tray. Also the HDD performance seems to be slower with newer than FG version on AHCI.

I asked for the BIOS for my own needs ,to see whats a good BIOS for overclocking as some may limit what you get

I liked the clocks you got

Rep added to you guys.

lroy, what's your benchmark score in F1 2010 out of interest? I get 41fps ultra at stock 3.1ghz, and overclocked to 3.8ghz I get 47fps.

Hey Dromihetes, I notice FG BIOS has 'Add CPU Core Control option'. Does this add something useful to ACC for unlocking? My ACC currently has hybrid, all cores, auto and per core.

I run 1.55v through my unlocked quad with a 4+1 and have done hundreds of linx runs and fold for weeks at a time.
Granted I have a high performance fan blowing on them and very good airflow.
It was not that long ago almost all of us where overclocking on 4+1 vrms with quads.

I would be slightly worried on your setup konspiracy; it is nice that you have cooling on it however it is still a cheap design with only 2 transistors, no driver, it may not be the best in terms of clean power availability

There are 3 NEC MOSFETS per phase ,one of them is a driver.
It s a normal 4+1 (15 MOSFETS) with the ability to drive a simple X 2 just fine as he did not unlocked it.
I would not worry as the mobo features thermal control.

It s as safe as any overclock is

Roman5 ,with that thing added you can control each core (for unlocking purposes to 3 core for example).
But if that CPU is like my 550BE ,you may see only 2 cores to be controlled
Something i have never used

His question concerned if he was indeed going to unlock, though I am aware the situation is definitely better than other boards i.e. those with NIKOS MOSFETs. I'm pretty sure I have seen a case where this motherboard activated OCP as well. Nevertheless Gigabyte themself recommends adding proper MOSFET cooling for unlocking on this board, remember that.

Perfectly true !
Unlocking changes the situation and VRM cooling is necesary.
