GTX 580: 1.5GB or 3GB @ 1920x1200 w/lotsa AA? - Page 2

For 8xAA @ 1200p should give you an IQ of 1440p or higher.

If you're closer to 600mb with AA turned up, then you'll only need SLI 3gb cards if you're doing surround vision, or whatever it's called with 3 monitors.
According to evga Precision, I use ~750MB with 16x enabled in-game and Q16x (enhance) in nvidia control panel. I use ~450MB with AA disabled in both. That's per card, in an SLI setup, but it's my understanding that vram usage is "mirrored", and not cumulative (for lack of a better word), in SLI. So it looks like 1.5GB should do the trick. Which saves me some $$$.

But you know, it's just a reflex...if you can have more, get more...so I had to ask.

edit: brettjv, I can't rep you...but I have a couple of extra Cadbury Cream Eggs, if you're ever on the East Coast.

Ok, I think you've already got the help you need, but I was playing original Crysis last night on my two new 580s, and I was getting about 80fps with 16x QAA on, 1920x1200.

I was very happy with this, expecially since my 3 285's before more or less crashed on anything with Q in it. Still ran fine at 8 or 16, but the 580's are absolute monsters.

Nice, after this thread I turned on memory monitoring in afterburner. In DA2 I use 990-1080mb with a 1080p res and everything maxed. Haven't turned on a good FPS since memory OSD was activated

*edit* just turned BFBC2 with max settings on 1080P and got 800mb in memory

i was in the same question 3gb or 1.5gb and i am running a 1920x1200 monitor, you will not need 3gb for a single monitor.
