Roughly how much voltage will I need to reach 4.5ghz? - Page 4

I'm running my sig rig at 1.36v @ 4.5GHz on a Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 with a 50CFM Yate Loon attached (Not an ideal fan for this situation) and I'm getting:

Core 0: 55
Core 1: 54
Core 2: 56
Core 3: 52

So for someone with a H60/H70, I'd expect equal or better temps. Ambient 22C.

thats under load correct?

so would you consider hitting 69c in a blend test @4.5ghz at around 1.3v to be way too damn hot?

not meaning to hijack this thread just trying to figure out whats wrong with my system

I'd say that your temps are toasty, below 72 is ideal.

If you'd like to discuss your rig, please make a thread or simply use the search function. There are a myriad of reasons that can cause your temps to be high.

Thread Starter
Okay, I've just ran my another 20 runs of IBT at 4.7ghz, but this time at 1.345v and temps were:

64C
70C
71C
68C

And after a few matches of Starcraft II, temps were in the low 50s. What's the "safe" limit for gaming since I won't want my CPU to be running at 70C all the time.

BTW, can someone give me an answer to my question about the other voltages set to auto?

I know they won't be as efficient as setting them normally, but having the setting on auto won't actually have the voltages set higher than their safe limit, right?

Thanks for all the help so far.

EDIT: My ambient room temp is around 27C.

There's nothing wrong with his rig.
I just got into the 12 hour prime stable rig club, and my temps at 1.26v and 4.5 ghz were 64, 68, 68, 69.

That's just at 1.26v, and I'm using a Venomous-X with a 103 cfm fan.

Different cpu's run hotter than others. Mine has a lower VID, thus it can run at lower voltage, but lower VID chips often run hotter. My other 2600k needs about 1.3v for 4.5 ghz and runs like 5C cooler than this one, because the VID is higher.

Wow I thought I got a bad chip needing 1.34V to get to 4.5. What would you consider average vcore for 4.5?

after reading this thread earlier...i decided to try and see what i could run 4.5ghz at what volts

i ended up being able to run a blend test for an hour with 4.5ghz @1.285v and it was completely stable for the whole test and getting high temps of 66c

so then i went back in and changed the vcore down to 1.280v and it blue screened on me about right at the start of windows log in...so i knocked it back up to 1.285 and it booted back into windows and i started a blend test and then after about 15-20 minutes it blue screened....so i just gave up and went back to 4ghz at stock volts

not sure what happened why it was stable the first time and then unstable the second but it happens...ill have to try and see if i can get it stable at above 1.285

Use 1.3v with Ultra high LLC so the voltage remains around 1.29 to 1.30v.
Most likely you had vdroop.

i actually tried doing 1.285 with medium LLC and it bluescreened right as the windows logon was coming up with an 124 code indicating that i need more vcore

i dont fully understand LLC...some say to use high or ultra high...some say dont use it....i just cant understand exactly what it does
