upgrading from a 4850

Thread Starter
I am finally thinking of upgrading my 4850...LOVE my card. It has served me better than I could possibly imagine.

I am running 1080p on a viewsonic LED. With a second monitor/TV Sony Bravia running at 1360x768...i use this for blu-ray, hulu, netflix, and vlc.

2 questions...

1) when is the next crop of vid cards coming out?
2) I'm considering the nvidia gtx 560, which i plan to overclock...is the extra penny worth the 570?
3) is dx11 all that?

The 4850 has served me stupendously. I still max out games like resident evil 5, assassin's creed 2, arkham asylum, and s.t.a.l.k.e.r. in fact, there isn't a single game i own that hasn't run at or near max on my 4850...i guess i'm just scratching an itch to spend some duckets.

thoughts?

I think the 560 would be more than enough, and you can always overclock it, or go SLI with it at a later time - should dominate everything at 720p or 1080p DX11 has some nice graphical features, I like tessellation myself, but then I'm always a big fan of the best graphics you can possibly get

When is the next generation of video cards coming out?

Considering the gtx 500s and the 69xx are generally enhanced versions of their 400s and 5900s cousins, I'm guessing a big overhaul in the technology is due soon...but i have found nothing on the net about the next crop

570 is definitely worth it IMO, I'm happy with mine. You could get similar performance with a 6950, though, for less money. I'm just an nvidia fanboy. Also, I would definitely recommend a 6950 over a 560 at least.
