Which ssd to buy? i need your advice

Thread Starter
Around maybe 1-2 years ago i use to have the Intel x25 80 gb for 200 but i sold it soon after and picked up 3 samsung f3's for raid b.c i tend to do alot of writes. Now im hoping to get back to the SSD WORLD but im unsure which ssd to buy.

My mobo only supports sata 2 but i was thinking if i were to buy a sata 3 ssd and get one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-072-_-Product

would it work? or should i just stick with a sata ii ssd? anyone have any good recommendations for ssds? im willing to spend up to 150 dollars

any opinions on corsairs and crucial m4 drives? i know there has been a spike in sales on ssd drives

It all depends, if the SSD is going to be used just for your operating system, I'd say Sata 2 versus Sata 3 won't be a huge difference. You'll see a difference in sequential read/write, but for operating system use, its going to be a lot of random read/write, so it's more important.

If you wanted to play it safe and future proof yourself, there are pretty good deals on some Sata 3 drives, where if you replaced your motherboard in the future, then i'd say go for it, but I don't know whether the PCI adapter is worth the effort.

Really, most any SSD is going to be pretty good as far as performance goes, and in real world use as a boot drive, you'll probably never notice the differences. I would go storage/quality. I went with Intel as they have the best quality SSD's on the market with the lowest fail rates, and my 510 works gorgeously for me, but you can pick up the 80GB 320 for ~175.

I have no idea when it comes to the PCI adapters and whether there will be a bottleneck or latency issue...I don't wanna give you the wrong information, so I'd wait until someone else has an answer for ya.
