I don't know, I just feel if you were a hardcore Diablo/2/LoD fan you'd want nothing more.

Obviously, every game has its flaws. However, Diablo 2 to me was a near perfect game.

i would have liked a better and more powerful story, with better developed characters, etc. Something like a real rpg.

COD is not complex. Dragon age is not complex, Diablo is not complex. fallout 3 and new vegas are not complex.

AAA publishers are now the equivalent to michael bay films. All plodeys, hot chicks, racial stereotypes, and action. No plot, no thinking.

Even though fallout 1 and 2 were quite complex. To the point of having a character with low intelligence would make it extremely hard to communicate with other people.

Hell Brink just got marked down in a review because it emphasized teamwork and tactics. *** how do you mark down a game for doing what it is suppose to do? Cause its not COD easy that is why, they dont Give you hugs for sucking in it.
Your high horse.
Get off of it.

Complexity for the sake of complexity is not fun.

It was a Hack N' Slash RPG that came out 11 years ago... I think the last thing on their minds was a powerful story.

yeah, why have it all. Lets settle for a good game, instead of one that is going down in the history books.

But D2 does go down in the history books. It's one of the most popular and successful RPGs to ever exist aside from other titles.

But hey, if a game doesn't fully have Vhati's attention, it's not worthy of such a prestigious title.

He's got a damn good point. A lot of this stuff isn't for "complexities sake" it just creates a much more deep game in terms of gameplay mechanics.

Brink is, like he said, a standout example of this. The game was being slammed for a tight team-based gameplay, that really tested your mettle. COD never tested anything. I could roll onto MW2 and probably roll the first team in TDM i played. The most complex that game gets is one gun or two. Compare that with BC2, where if no-ones taking down the heli's and tanks, and no-ones playing medic, and no-one is trying to make a push, then you will lose. MW2, you make a push at one objective, solo, and your team comes because the enemy team has derped out and all ran to the objective you're pushing. You dont need your team to even make that push. Hell, I've held that push alone, sometimes. The whole death-streak idea epitomised how games have gone; some kind of reward happy, easy streak medium, even when you're LOSING.

There's no high horse here, there's just a want of a game that is genuinly challenging, and therefore intesely satisfying when you get it right; its something that games often lack IMO.

One more example, I played Metroid Prime when I was very young. So, the riddles may have been harder then than they would be to me now. But to access the last scenario's, you had to find codex entries and decipher the riddles to find the location where the 12 artifacts you required were. I spent quite a while looking for all of them, and it was hard for me, being a kid. When I found them, there was a strong feeling of achievement - not the manufactured kind you get now with games, but an achievement that I had created for myself, in my own head. This is probably one of my fondest memories of gaming to be honest, and it was created through challenge and complexities, not blatant signposting of objectives in favour of a EXPLOSIONS type approach.
