This is for a special project that requires the higher amount of stream processors. So the 6XXX series is kinda a no-go plus the 58XX series performers better than all but the absolute top of 6XXX line.

I have to say this has been just wonderful with all the people coming out and helping me with this! You have all given me some great advice and I have decided on the card. I'm going to grab the Gigabyte 5850 because I have no real intention of overclocking it until I grab my second one and the extra DVI port will help with some much needed screen real estate. I thank all of you for helping me and giving such great advice and sharing your experience with different models, it has helped immensely. I'll be purchasing it from newegg on Sunday and hopefully I can get it by Wednesday of next week.

Once again that you all

ASUS I just had to RMA my old one and got a NIB replacement. No questions asked and only took 2 weeks.

the sapphire 5850 is a great card.. i just ordered one for my cousin last week when it was still 135 and it runs pretty cool. the size is also noticably shorter then the usual reference 5850s.

Just ordered the XFX 5850 off tigerdirect.com with a extra fan to help with temps. After rebate it comes to $140 and I get a rebate card so I can grab a R4 cart for the DS. Gotta get my pokemans on!

If your dead set on one of those two....I'd choose the Asus. Good qaulity GPU. I've used and use Asus products and they are reliable from my own experience.
