Granted i would have no where near the storage of my zune. I would still like to be able to use one device for most of my media and such.
most new smart phones these days have about the same audio quality output via the 3.5mm head jack.
i find that apple ipods seem to have the lowest power output for sound compared to an htc or black berry phone. not sure if this is the case for an iphone 4. this would attribute for longer music playback when you limit the volume output.
black berry's seem to have the best speaker output from thier phones due to dual speaker specs they have (but im sure this isnt what youre looking for). mid range and highs are the best from thier speakers.
16GB memory cards these days are about $20-$40 depending on thier speeds. it would be more beneficial from your standpoint, if money is tight, to get a non apple product. but i leave that to your discretion. you can fit tons of music on 16GB depending on your format preferences.
32 gb cards still range from $80-$120. but im sure that will drop in time (last year the 16 gb cards were this price, so we are indeed making progress on this)
