anyone ever use ASUS U3S6 card's SATA 6gbs port on a non-Asus mobo?

in my case, it works just fine, i can get 355 mb read off my 128GB C300 SSD, on a motherboard that does not natively support SATA 6gbs.

Sequential performance isn't that important for OS/apps...

Yes, most disk operations are small files.

Sequential only helps if you are loading/transferring large files at once.

hmm, people say its better to use the default MS ACHI driver than the marvell one, how do i go about using the MS drivers?

yea, i just found out im using MC91xx for SSD, how do you make it MSACHI instead like it is for my HDDs?

My C300 runs off a U3S6 and for me, the Marvell driver outperforms MSAHCI

I'd be interested in knowing how you change the U3S6 to use the MSAHCI instead of the Marvell drivers

Just delete the Marvell driver.
Reboot.
Windows will install it's driver.
Reboot

Thanks, I actually found a nicer way, deleting the Marvell driver didn't seem to work it kept picking it up again (I think I had a few versions of it on my machine)

I found if I went to device manager and selected update driver on the Marvell one and then let me select which driver to choose the AHCI one was in the list.
